Beauty tips, Embryolisse

Embryolisse  is a moisturizer that is a skincare must have. From working at fashion week I learnt that it was models' and makeup artists' secret weapon. This moisturizer made by Lait-Creme Concentre has been available in French pharmacies for over 60 years. I use it on my own skin as I have extremely sensitive and dehydrated skin, which tends to react to most products but this one works like a dream.

The only down side is its not easy to get hold of if you don't live in France, so if you go on holiday there its worth popping into one of their pharmacies as its quite cheap there.

Here is a UK based site you can purchase it from - http://www.gurumakeupemporium.com/Embryolisse-24-Hour-Miracle-Cream-Lait-Creme-Concentre-75ml

Makeup looks using Bourjois products, including a mini review.

The Bourjois makeup they sent me to try.

Bourjois kindly sent me a collection of their new products to try.

  • SMOKY EYES TRIO EYESHADOW in 13 brun wood & 14 vert jungle

I like to try the products on my skin before I use them on clients so here's some pictures of my makeup after my experiment.

The makeup I used on myself and a mini review of a few of my favorite Bourjois products-

MAC- Prep and Prime skin- As you can tell if you have read my previous posts I always use a primer before applying foundation as it gets your makeup to last on your skin, and helps with a smooth application of  foundation.

HEALTHY MIX SERUM FOUNDATION- 16 hour radiance booster- A while ago they had sent me Healthy mix serum which I love for a natural finish foundation. Even though it is a sheer foundation it still covers redness, it has a natural satin finish that mimics the look of radiant skin, not too shiny not too matt.

MAC- Studio finish concealer- I have spot prone skin so need to go back with concealer in target areas, this MAC concealer is a  full coverage.

HEALTHY BALANCE UNIFYING POWDER- This powder is ultra fine so sets the foundation without looking powdery and dry.

SMOKY EYES TRIO EYESHADOW- I used the three eye shadows from the 13 brun wood pallet, I've got to say I am picky with eyeshadows but these were easy to blend and did have a good colour pay off. I was a fan of this colour combination  this palette comes with a olive green, warm red and black, these colours suit a lot of people but especially green eyes as the red in the brown will make green eyes look brighter.

LITTLE ROUND POT INTENSE EYESHADOW- I went back into the outer crease of my eye with the #10 black mineral based eyeshadow as you only need a small amount to create drama.

VOLUME CLUBBING BLACK JACK MASCARA- This mascara is great if you like volume, you can really build up your lashes to create drama.

QUEEN ATTITUDE KHÔL KAJAL- I used this all around my eye and in my waterline, it does last well in the waterline.

MAC- Oak lip pencil, To the future pro longwear lipstick & clear lipglass.

Before a photoshoot with a designer I designed this ProChart using LITTLE ROUND POT INTENSE EYESHADOW in #4 & QUEEN ATTITUDE KHÔL KAJAL.

Pixie Geldof for the British fashion awards, with a list of the MAC products I used.

I found some old images from when I did makeup on Pixie Geldof for the British fashion awards in 2009. She wanted a slightly vampy look, with a 90s influence.

Ath-elite is the skin led trend of this season with plump, ultra hydrated healthy skin. Using glossy highlights not shimmer. To achieve this look on the skin you will have to invest time massaging in layers of moisturiser, minimal foundation and concealing only where needed.

Marios Schwab s/s 2012

Marios Schwab was one of my favourite looks that fell into the Ath-elite trend here's how to recreate it:

  • Studio Moisture Tint SPF 15 – blended over skin to hydrate and provide a light natural finish to skin.
  • Shell Cream Colour Base – blended over the high planes to highlight.
  • Prep + Prime Transparent Finishing Powder – dusted over the center of the face for a light.

  • Clear Brow Set — applied through the brow for a light groom.
  • Smolder Eye Kohl — blended through both upper and lower lashes with 212 Flat Definer Brush.
  • Boot Black Liquid Liner — drawn through the upper and lower lashline to define and elongate eyes.
  • MAC Pro NW25/NC30 Chromagraphic Pencil — applied through the waterline of lower lashes to open eyes.

  • Studio Moisture Tint SPF 15 — blended over lips for a customized nude pout.

Make-up lessons with Naomi – part 2

Your foundation choice will depend on your skin type, the coverage you'd like to achieve and the texture you prefer.

A great one for sheer to medium coverage with a slightly luminous look: (mineralize satin finish SPF15 foundation)-(190 foundation brush).

If you like a medium to full coverage but still with a natural satin finish (studio sculpt SPF 15)-(190 foundation brush).

Skin that produces more oil tends to need a matte finish, for a long-wearing medium-full coverage (studio fix fluid SPF 15)-(188 stippling brush).

Concealer is usually used for more targeted areas of coverage such as around the eyes and blemishes.

The colour and texture of the concealer depends on the area of use. For coverage round the eyes, colour theory will come into play; if you have a bluish tint in this area then a warmer pink base will counteract the blue (in mac concealers the warmer tones are represented with NW).

(Select moisturecover)-(217 blending brush) is a beautiful concealer for round the eyes and the face as it gives good coverage without looking too heavy; it has a satin-smooth ultra-moisturized finish.

For a matte finish, long wearing concealer (select cover-up)-(217 blending brush) - good to use over eye lids before eye shadow to reduce redness.

Or full coverage for problem areas such as spots- (studio finish SPF 35 concealer).

To lock foundation and concealer in place, set them with a powder especially around the eyes to stop them gathering and creasing.

For a dimensional yet natural matte finish that’s not dry or powdery looking (mineralize skinfinish natural).

Or for shine prone skin (blot powder); only 3% colour so great for touch-ups, contains Mica and Silica to absorb excess oils and reduce shine on the skin's surface.

(129 powder/ blush brush)
